Advanced Placement United States History,
now in its 30th year of existence at John Carroll, is a rigorous,
seminar-style course in the history of the United States and its people. It
offers to serious students of advanced abilities the type intellectual challenges
provided by the introductory course in American History available at most colleges and universities.
Students utilize collegiate materials and engage in reading, discussions, and research beyond
those of the Honors U.S. History course. Nearly all registered students sit for the
national AP U.S. History Examination in May, annually averaging close to a score of 4.0.
